Best stealth upgrades?

Working through my car I came to a philosophical decision point that I'm sure many of you have faced. In this case, it was brought on by needing to replace brake lines - and Turner Motorsport having some nice stainless lines on sale - but they're fire engine red. They were just to flashy looking for me.

My car isn't stock - Getrag 240, e21 LSD, Bilsteins, Recaros  - but I'm torn between modern improvements and keeping the car as some semblance of period correct.

Anyone have any favorite stealth upgrades - upgrades that at the least don't jump out as being jarringly wrong, but make a significant improvement?

How about the laundry list of work done to the ‘71 Golf Sleeper vespam5 is selling right now in the “cars for sale” section?  Car looks stock from the outside but some serious upgrades underneath.

Thanks for the pointer to that car - I tend to not watch the cars for sale forum as I'm not in the market for another, but I can see now that I should! Those are many of the type upgrades I have in mind, things that only someone who knows the car well would know are not stock - and that same person is probably someone who can appreciate the value of the upgrade.

-123ignition dizzy, Bluetooth version. Looks relatively stock. Your car will never run better.

-H4 headlights w/Tungsram bulbs

-3rd brake light

-Andrew already mentioned the stereo upgrade so +1 on that

-brake/pads/SS lines as noted above

-Larger diameter rims that look period correct (Panasports, Alpinas, Rota RB's, Rota Alpina knock-offs...)

-sound deadening

-3 spd wiper upgrade

Don’t forget that people used to upgrade their cars when they were new. Assuming you don’t go for something like ITB fuel injection, pretty much anything else can be period correct.

1. Suspension

2. Suspension

3. Suspension.

IE sway bars. New springs (ST springs have minimal drop thus look OEM) Fresh bushings all around. I favor rubber for a tolerable ride. You have Bilsteins. so you are good there.

Much more fun on the twisties.

That will beat a good number of mondo horsepower Mopars, Chevy's, Fords's of old...You speed ahead as they butt pucker through their turns.

Loose: Not tightly bound. Subject to motion.
Lose: What happens when you are spell check dependent.

1975 Malaga. It is rusty but runs. Just like me.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
