I rarely "blow the whistle" or "burst the bubble".....& if you were asking $1k, I'd have thought nothing of it (or at least not said anything) but I bought a similar condition dash for closer to 700$ just a few months ago.... and "vintage dashes" will likely release their reproduction dash before the years end...(& it will be priced reasonably....under $1k)

Forums: a community keeping eachother up to date on the known market facts.

Ebay: not doing that

Glad someone else is blowing the whistle.  Excellent only pertains to "no" cracks IMO.

I like the sound of a reproduction dash from Vintage Dashes.  Then someone can sell me their perfect tray (from early 2pc dash), and use funds to buy the reproduction 1pc. ☺️  I am assuming that the repro will be a one-piece.

Car parts -and cars for that manner are not comps like in real estate. Just because one thing or another sold for X price don't mean they all sell for that price now. Shit, if true, restored Baikal 72 tii's will sell for north of 6 figures.

Y'allz know what I'm talking about.

This pricing stupidity has me exiting the 2002 hobby. Front engine, water cooled Porsche's from the 80's-catch what I'm layin down broh.

But what do I know.

Sorry this isn’t helping you really. We 02 people are more aware of what we have and part of the culture is to keep getting “in to” a 2002 relatively accessible compared to other European vintage cars. Simply because we want people to restore and maintain the ecosystem of cars no longer in production.

Many have asked what you should ask for a part in “X” condition. And in all those cases you get a respectful and poignant answer. It probably would have helped here.

Still.... all the power to you if you can get your asking price.

Kind regards.

Paul: Like any addiction; the quitting process is a 12 step program. I think I'm at level 2 and maybe as a result of this dashboard thread-entering level 3.

I have 4 more 2002's to get through. Just need to get well, then I'll be clean.

THERE'S A PROGRAM!

I just spent $500 on a passenger seat pad, to then realize I need a new driver's side pad AGAIN 'cause the one I have is 15 years old and I can feel the springs with my butt.  2 horsehair "buns" (upholsterer slang) for a grand.  Sold...I needed the fix.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
