The two A4 systems I ran, one had 9.5/292/2.0 (Sahara 73tii) and the other was 10:1/304/s14 crank/2.2 (Inka touring).  Both ran better than any tii I had....

I drove your old 73tii at Road Atlanta in the BMWCCA instructor group a few years ago, and it was able to keep up with the pace of the run group. Very linear power curve, and it runs even better with a 123 ignition dizzy. Still runs fantastic throughout all RPM ranges at all throttle angles. The A4 setup is amazing when dialed in correctly.

I cycle through cars a bit too much -- I finish a project and after a few years move on to the next.  That's fun but there are a few cars I regret selling:  The Golf yellow CSL, the inka touring, and the Sahara tii.  Can you get that one back for me?

now: '72 Inka 2000 touring, '82 Alpina C1 2.3  & '92 M5T (daily driver)

before: a lot of old BMWs (some nice, some not so much), a few air-cooled 911s and even a water-cooled Cayman S

I forgot about your CSL - nice list of cars!

That is a big number for that system really.  I don't know how much it cost the others to do the throttle shafts and butterflies (several hundred anyway I should think)….and I can tell by looking at the pic those were the early butterflies so odds are your going to do it.  Curious of someone here on this board took the auction (and if they will admit it...haha).

But you know, Mark, after hearing the raves about the system here, if I had an extra $15K, it sounds like a no brainer! My $15K is $10K to purchase it and $5K to overhaul it and set it up. Add 25-30 bhp to a tii and still have an entirely driveable car? I gotta start a GoFundMe page for the next one that comes up...

Best regards,

Steve

I was going to have a stab at it if the $$ stayed to relatively reasonable number, but when I woke up this morning ans saw where it was at, that was the end of that thought!

I wonder what it would take to reproduce/reverse engineer this set up...

The pump and its revised fuelling would always be the hard part. Modifying some available throttle bodies to take the K-fish injectors and then fabricating a linkage to interconnect with the pump would be relatively* easy.

On balance you would probably look at using throttle bodies and electronic injection as less work and would be just as original. As an option you could get an old KFish pump and pull out the internals to leave a dummy. This could be connected to fake injectors via hoses on the top but the manifold could have EFI injectors installed underneath.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
