SOT - How to replace wheel studs on Ford Laser

Hi all, thanks for looking

I need to replace wheel studs on my Girlfriends ford laser 2000 model (mazda 323), but the dealer wants $500 to replace them, so i'm thinking i can do it myself, knock out studs & torque up new ones. The first prob i come across is trying to remove the rear drum. It is screwed onto the hub & the screw is like brass or something, so as soon as i start to unscrew it, it deforms. Is this a special type of screw that needs a drive thingamybob to unscrew it? or should i just stay away and leave my working to the good old predictable 02.

Thanks for any tips!!!!
