Steering drop arm removal

Tagging on to this topic having just pulled the pitman arm off my old steering box.   I'm in the process of installing the rebuilt steering box and was planning to use the old eyeball/trial-and-error method for correct positioning of the arm on the new box when I noticed a mark on the mating face of the pitman arm (see pic).  I'm assuming this lines up with something on the steering box itself to help you corectly position the arm.  Anyone have experience with this?  Should I line it up with the split in the steering box case?  Car is 1975 US LHD version.  Any input on this would be helpful.

It's been a while since I took mine apart, but I dug up some photos.

Suppose it aligns with this mark on the shaft?

It looks like I carried the mark down to the body and put a sharpie mark there for reference.

I now disagree with some of the timing advice I have given in the past.  I misinterpreted the distributor curves in the Blue Book. 

I've switched from using ported-vacuum to manifold, with better results.

Wow, that was fast - thanks for speedy the responses!   Like having a master tech on call!   Got everything lined up and ready to bolt in now.  No eyeballing or trial-and-error needed.  I appreciate the help.   JMc

Did you align the worm too?

Align the worm?  I assumed the rebuilt box has been aligned (mistake?)   It's installed and runs lock to lock pretty smoothly as is.  Did I miss a step?
