... but, but, but don't you need the coolant nipple to heat the intake manifold?

 

the e21 dividers are used for dual carb conversions due to the lack of that nipple.

My '76's divider has an extra boss that could be drilled for a second sensor.  Maybe you could find one like that and drill/tap it?

well, there is (what I believe is) a temp switch on the underside of my intake's coolant passage... could you use that location?  (assuming your intake has one too)

 

see it hiding under there?

Hmmm.  I wonder how much cooler that location would be, compared to the divider; since the manifold's heating jacket is doing battle with the cooling effect of the carb.

Maybe you could change the title of your ad to 1976 water divider wanted ?

(although I don't know whether they were all like mine)

 

Or, I do have an e21 divider and I could weld a nipple onto the side of it (and put it in a box with that air cleaner).  

 

I used these little calipers to measure the nipple on mine and could drill out this 5/8" rod, or make a slightly longer one by turning down the chunk of 1" stock in the photo; which would also allow for a ridge at the end.

I forget which type of fuel pump you have, but if it is the stubby style, I could angle the nipple down a little, to help with hose/pump clearance.

The e21 efi version that Jim has is now NLA I believe.  Looks like BMW is replacing it with the e30 version, 11531274009

Perhaps, WTB '76 water divider (?)

If they were all like mine, you could just drill and tap that extra boss.
