Hello ti owners,

I have been trying to find a stock/factory image of a 1600ti engine compartment. I have plenty of the exterior and even the interior but the engine compartment, specifically, seem to be difficult to come across. If anyone has any 1600ti or 2002ti engine compartment pictures please post... for that matter, feel free to post anything ti.

As with any knowledge on this site the more we have the merrier!

Thank you in advance!

TJ

Was your car delivered to France? I noticed that sticker on the driver’s fender. Do you know if that’s original or at least put on by the dealer?

Hi Krister,

On the phh, check what jets and chokes you can get. Since the cam and compression are different to stock, just adjusting the idle mixture won't really bring a good result. You may need to go to the Webers to get the right jetting and chokes. The choices on dellortos are available, almost like the dcoe but I dont know what is available for the phh as it's not a typical choice for self-tuning. The hp won't reach 150 most likely, without a hotter cam, but between 140 and 150 is not unreasonable.

About 140 hp as Andrew mentiod. Just try with the solexes. You can get jets for the solexes in germany.

I am planning om doing the same in my 1600ti with a 300 cam

OK,

This is my first post, amazing because I have a 1967 1600 built up with a 2002 motor (1969) dual webers, alpina pistons and cam etc. Where have I been? Lost in life and not "on-line". My car was originally built by Gene Underwood who was the service manager of a BMW dealership in Cedar Rapids, Iowa?

I've owned the car since 1976 and did a complete restoration 37 years ago.

The car was aiming towards TISA but it's at least a Ti. The dual webers were fed by an air box, which I still have and would love to reinstall, however there are now obstacles. I can't seem to figure out where to get the rubber connector tubes that at one end clamp to the weber stacks and the other end the air box receiver stacks. Does anyone know how to get these? I can take photos? Is it a good idea to run the air box? I figure BMW engineers did it for a reason. Does it quieten the engine? My wife refuses to ride with me because of the noise. Of course, I'm deaf to what she's talking about there. Also the air filters that go inside are another question? And then there's another obstacle........I installed a horizontal strut brace between the shock/struts and it looks like maybe this will conflict with the air box. I can check this out by removing the strut and trying it out, but maybe someone knows about this. I would even consider a different style strut brace with a slight lift if the air box is a worthy element.

My car is very special, dear to my heart and a central part of my identity. I am finally able to focus come real time on it now that my (4) children have successful lives and have moved away.

Harry
