Hello I am new here. I am having trouble with the hood release cable... when I pull it back it goes into the locking position  and when I put it forward nothing happens, I am scared to lock it because I'm afraid it won't open. The hood release cable is bolted to the roller which causes it to move, the one even is connected to the latch and the other end after been tightened with the bolt isn't connected to anything, is it correct that way? If not where should that end be connected to ?

Show us a picture.

If the cable is connected to the roller on the top of the left fender and tightly bolted, it should move the latch bar when you pull the lever in the passenger compartment, drivers side. Simply tighten the cable at both ends when engaged.

Pictures would make it easier.

It's likely the cross bar is stuck and needs some lube. With the cable released get a helper on the other side and gently lift and shake the rear corners of the hood, be careful as the hood can be easily bent or distorted, and it should open with a little luck.

If everybody in the room is thinking the same thing, then someone is not thinking.

This is what it looks like, is it correct ??

I assume the long hood latching bar is under tension from the big return spring that is visible through the opening in the plenum cover which houses your wiper motor, etc. ?

If not - and I’m doing this from memory - you have to preload the tension in it by turning the bar anti clockwise (as you look at it) at the latch end so the little black roller faces forward (for open)

Then pull and tighten your cable up so that the latch handle inside is nominally in the open position (fully up and toward you). Helps to have a second set of hands for a few moments doing this.

You might need to adjust a little here and there but once you have tension like that, when you close it it should work fine and be a little difficult to push the handle closed. When you push the latch handle to lock it (away from you when in the car) the hood will tighten up and close.

The tension in it when closed means the whole thing (hood) wants to pop open when you pull the latch handle toward you (to open) in future.

I think I have that about right - corrections welcome, as I said it was from memory. [emoji848]

Look at the second picture in Hal's post above. When your interior latch is in the OPEN position your latch bar should be more or less level/horizontal with the ground and pointing toward the FRONT of the car...yours is pointing downwards. It won't engage the hood that way. You need to change it and adjust the cable.

Study this: The pix need to be downloaded on a PDF. This'll tell you everything you need.

Roller on the bar looks to be missing too.

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.

First picture hood open, second pic hood would be locked closed, under tension of the spring attached to the centre of the long locking bar and the tension provided by the latch handle. I also note that the factory visuals and directions above appear to indicate the latch handle is forward when open, on mine it's the opposite and works fine, so not sure what thats about ...?

Same here, and nobody has messed with it.
