Camden Super Charger

Recommended Posts

Its a Connecticut car, had many corrosion repairs done at some point by previous owner(s) - floors, rockers, quarters and not sure what else. Some of these repairs, especially the undercarriage, were done poorly and need to be addressed again. I am facing major expenditures to correct these issues which will impact my ability to test the super charger any time soon. Currently evaluating options to fix these issues including finding a clean donor tub or a really good shop that dose not want am arm and leg for the repairs (have spoken to Sports Car Restoration in Plainville Ct. - they are switched on to 02's) . I like the port injection suggestion - how about locating the injectors under the intake, using that Fox Heritage weber copy throttle body so that it keeps period correct appearance? Ported Megasquirt is an excellent injection solution but am concerned that it wont fit the period correct hot rod look I am after. But the 02 guys don't seem that concerned about modifications and the modern injection solution might have a broader appeal from Camden's prospective. Also not sure if the compression was lowered to allow for forced induction. The engine has previously been out of the car and appears to have been apart at some point. Car is not documented, previous owner passed away and I purchased it from his widow without records. Have driven the car around town a bit - was surprised by its performance and shocked by the blower gear noise above 4500RPM.

@64FHC Your blower might need to be rebuilt.

I was running a detuned version of the Camden kit before I sold the car! I bought an incomplete kit with a missing crank pulley. I had to custom make one and was putting out around 3-4psi. The kit originally came With 2 pulleys 8-10psi. I believe!

Couple of pics of my Florida 69 2000 with the Camden supercharger and a 5 speed!

@64FHC when I 1st started the project. I contacted Camden and a nice lady was able to verify whether the supercharger was ever serviced by them using the serial # on the blower!

Contacted Camden initially about production date - they stated 1978 but did not indicate any overhaul history.

Also asked them about performance data - they speculated 30%

The company that currently owns the design (Atkins Rotary) purchased it from a Texas based company many years back, they have no test experience with 02's.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
