Just pulled my gas tank out of the car. Seems okay. What are the basics to check/restore before I reinstall it.

thanks, Peter

IMPORTANT ; your choice of calking material around the trunk floor opening : clean the metal. prime , paint , let dry long time, lay bead of 3M Strip Calk ,plop your freshly painted gas tank in to the freshly painted hole , let settle and compress the calking , tighten screws slowly. I'm sure I've seen some some tank sealing stuff on the

market, but haven't really looked into it (sounds too good to

be true).

I've the very annoying problem of the typical leaking Touring

tank (anyone know why they all seem to do it?) when it's

more than half full, and fuel starvation on tight bends with

less than a quarter! Kind of restricts the number of enjoyable

miles before having to put another quarter of a tank in.
