Rod Ratio vs. Displacement. Is there a choice to be made?

I don't have a dampner for the s14, so I am not sure which is the best route in my situation considering the asking price for even a crappy used one. Plus its got a shit ton of useless pulleys I would be inclined to cut off in a band saw. 

 

That being said, cutting the snout is not uncommon in this build.

I did them for sports racers that had to run against the Brabham BT8's with 2.5L (or 2.7L)  Climax FPFs.

Not that it’s gold gospel but Eric Kerman told me you don’t get anything by going bigger than a 46mm intake. Or at least, the gains were not worth the cost. This was said to me as I was trying to spend more money on the head. I’m fairly happy with the 304. If I was going to do it again I’d think about the 316.

Hey guys just lurking here, but I built a lil "s10" for my project car. Used a full S14 short block with custom JE's, so 144mm rods. Came out about 13.2:1. Cam is TEP 294 using a 38weber on a hand ported head and 2bbl 02 intake with 1" open plenum spacer. No idea what it makes but goes pretty good for what it is.

Hi John, was he talking about a 2 litre, or was this his opinion on the larger bore/stroke s10s that are being covered here? BTW Walter did indeed drill the extra 6 coolant passages from the s14 block into an m10 head. Seems like a good idea and hasn't experienced any problems.

Thanks, I borrowed some help from here and other forums ie OpelGT for jetting the 38 also. it's been a really fun Father Son project to build with my Dad. Now to finish up the e30M within a year or so.

Frustrating. After two e-mails, phone call, follow-up emails, still, I get crickets from VAC.  I understand that it will easily be $10k +, once in a lifetime thing, but really, I guess they are really not interested in M10 builds for the street. 

 

If you go with a stroker,  where are you going to source your parts?

They're probably not, to be honest.  They probably built one for a customer and put it on the site as a possibility and haven't done one since.  Don't be mad at them, they're just not the people for us.  I bet there are several people on this very forum that could build you a monster motor.
