Paint the Rad and condenser black or not

All fine, but if the color of the radiator and condenser on your ‘02 means the difference between overheating and not overheating, I’d suspect you have more substantive cooling system issues than the choice of color.... ?

After the condenser went in I installed an I.E radiator, natural colour. Had to shoe horn it, but it solved the needle moving up from 4:00 to 2:00 in hot stop & go traffic.

My concern was to get maximum cooling for the AC as many have noted that it is critical to do so in these cars.

The only time I had overheating problems in my tii was when I first obtained it. The PO had installed an undersized electric fan, and the temperature would definitely climb in stop and go city traffic. It also got too warm once when I was stuck in 20 mph on 101 south in San Jose with a tail wind.

Bottom line, get a big enough fan to do the job. I reinstalled the stock engine driven fan, and that solved the problem.

I didn’t trust any of the changes the P.O made so I thought since the condenser was extra wide, what the heck go with the larger rad. This also gives me some wiggle room in case I go on boost in the future.

I plan on taking some nice long road trips (probably to Cali) ,so I am not taking any chances.

If you're after better cooling in general, I think really the best thing to do (although nobody generally addresses this) is to try to block off the sides in the nose in front of the radiator/condenser.  This prevents hot air from the engine bay from coming back around and getting sucked back into the cooling airstream.  Trying to cool the rad and condenser with pre-heated air isn't very effective, and there are a LOT of gaps in the 2002's nose to let this happen. . .

I agree,  Andrew just put together headlamp opening covers for the 2002.  Unfortunately, that would mean that I would have to relocate my MSD box, which I am not willing to do at this point, but they would be great to funnel fresh air to the rad.  I have a turbo front on my car,  not sure how this affects anything.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
