Price: $75
Location: Lehi, UT

Description:

I'm a jackass and ordered my replacement antenna multiple times on separate orders.

It's band spanking new, still in the sealed package and ready for 40+ years of abuse. Personally, I don't really need an antenna. Not sure I have tuned a radio for over 2 years now. It was just a way to fill some holes on my A-pillar without having to weld and repaint.

I take PayPal. If you don't want to use friends and family please send $77.25 because I'm a super cheap penny pincher. Actually, it just cuts into my beer $ and I have priorities.

Here is a link to the product if you want to know how much it costs from Blunt. https://www.blunttech.com/products/4184959  It's $92.03 + shipping if you don't want to go check.

I'll ship if for free in the cont. US. (There went my beer $ and priorties)  I will also ship it anywhere else but you gonna pay dearly.

I'd be a buyer, however my 74' isn't a round base and has a different style. Do you know if this is a bolt on replacement?  Here are some pics, was your A pillar similar drill locations?  My car doesn't even have a radio and no real plans to put one in.

Sorry I already sold it. The good news is that I had that exact same antenna and I'm 90% sure this one is going to work. Has an extra screw at the bottom but I think it will work.

My old antenna that is the same as your is missing the top plastic clip on piece. If you have any of those I would let you have that one for $50. (it's the plastic piece in your middle picture)

Hey, Steve,

“Bolt-on replacement”? Maybe. Maybe not. It depends where they drilled the bottom hole.

My ‘76’s dealer, new to the BMW world, was installing Harada antennas. But, upon seeing a Harada antenna, I immediately bought a new Hirschmann — this was in August 1976 — and installed it. Great! The lower hole, however, was pretty far down the A pillar. And the round base of the Hirschmann was much thicker than the rectangular base of the Harada. So....with the Hirschmann installed in the original Harada hole, you could not open the hood: the antenna base blocked it. And on my brand new ‘02, the thought of filling the old hole and repainting the roof — “metallic paint matching” was an oxymoron in those days — was simply not to be considered.

The Harada went back on. Worked well and looked good for 40 years! But at the recent Big Re-Paint, we filled the Harada hole and installed the Hirschmann. Satisfaction delayed.... ?

First photo: April 1977. Second photo: June 2018.

Best regards,

Steve

Thanks for the info gents. I just checked and seems I have ample hood clearance for a large base. My top clip is way up there though compared to yours. I'm sure back then, instructions were in Japanese and distance was in cm's.  Whenever I get to my big repaint, I can address what I want to do, new hirschmann, delete, or wire hanger.

Instructions? My dealer? These are the guys that cut out the “ghost” exhaust exit on my 18-month-old car, so they could try to fit a round taillight muffler on my ‘76. Failing, they stuck the original muffler back on, told me they ordered a new muffler, but somehow forgot to tell me they chopped up my car’s rear lower valance.... ?

It is soooo much funnier 40 years later!  ?

First photo: as modified by the dealer in 1978. Second photo: as fixed by the Big Re-Paint.

Best regards,

Steve

The body shop must have enjoyed you...."and while your at it, tape over that VIN # on the fender and make sure its crooked".  I ended using the search function for antennae, wow lots of previous discussions.  Can't believe I've learned so much about these cars from guys like you, I purchased mine just about a year ago and thoroughly enjoying the car and the process.  We really hijacked this for sale thread!

I’ll take the old one if you want to sell it. PM me.

Let me shoot some pictures today and I will send them to you. Just want to make sure that it is what you want. Sorry for the delayed response, I was out of town all last week with no service.
