I’ve been a customer of 2002 AD from the beginning, way before Ben or the second owner ever dreamed of owning it... Now if you ever met Tom.. ( I think it was) he was a great contentious old knowledgeable no BS guy!! I know Ben and he has done a decent job (which is fucking hard) at  carrying on the 2002 AD legacy! Everything I have bought from him has been quality ( shipping is not his strong suit or something he likes to do.. ) but he is a stand up person as far as I know! This type of post is shitty in my opinion!!!

I have bought many parts over the years from 2002AD and for me anyway I never had any issues.  I even recall the guy I used to deal with many years ago (wish I could remember his name, but he has passed away) was always super to me even to the point of throwing more bits & pieces in the box than I asked for....it doesn’t get any better than that!  I believe that was in the days before they moved....a really long time ago!  No business is perfect but 2002AD has helped many enthusiasts over the years...I still have a 2002AD t-shirt too!

I initially had the same reaction. Bad way to slag the former boss.

but, I went back and read the original post and that is not necessarily what he said.  . Maybe he meant it.  Hard to read minds.   Seems like that is what others posted later, that assumed that.  Maybe they were right. Hard to tell.

I suspect we’ve all had the curiosity of “why” a company did something it did.  It could be bad. Or it could just be some odd thing.  I suppose it’s an example of we see what we are looking for.  So we all pile on someone with only a few posts, assuming he only had ill intent.  I’m a newbie too, by the comparative measure of posts - an infant actually.

its l Ike that quote from twitter a few months ago where the guy said: ok tiwtterverse, what are we going to pretend to be outraged about today?

I suppose if he really wanted to slag the boss, he could have simply drone that. But, he asked if anyone had any questions to see behind the curtain.  I don’t know. If i had a question of him,I’d ask it And see what comes.

Not saying anyone is wrong.  Just my two cents

I'll say this, I like Ben, like his website, like his effort at supplying our brand with spares. Long before our fav suppliers even started 2002ad was  catering to us. Might not be perfect but I've used his gallery of pics for a lot of research. His knowledge has helped me alot, even before 2002faq. Respect your elders. Peace out?

Hello all, former employee of 5 years at 2002AD here.

Was the head (read: only) Master technician, as well as fabricator, and restoration specialist for the shop for the last 5 years.

I quit of my own accord and on good terms after reaching my (rather large) limit of bullshit and left to start my own business and build something on my own.

Feel free to ask me anything you've ever wanted to know about 2002AD!

You have a chance to finally hear the truth from the inside...

i agree with Dan Seattle..the guys said no more or less than he worked at 2002AD for 5 years, quit and was willing to discuss the way things work there...show the wizard behind the curtain...i don't see anything he said that could be construed as trashing AD...nor have there been any edits that might indicate he changed or removed any part of what he said

sometimes, often, a lot, you guys seem to be waiting for someone to say something or show their cars so you can express the negative....it's sad...you should re-read his post and hang your heads...apologize to the guy that you don't know

Sorry Esty.  The last sentence really says it all.

“You have a chance to finally here the truth from the inside...”

that implies that what we have gotten lies It also says he was tired of the bullshit.  Implying the company was full of lies and bullshit and to ask about those things and he will tell you the truth.

Maybe his his intent was something else but if I said on a forum “I know the inner workings of XYZ’s business and I got tired of the bullshit and ask me to tell you the truth behind her lies...”.

That’s not flattering at all and He probably doesn’t  have good intent.

If he had good intent I apologize but in my heart I think I read it properly.

Another thing to consider....DerEuroFührer may have changed his mind about making any comments about 2002AD. It would be in his best interest not to. Slandering a business or a person doing business can have some potentially serious repercussions. That may be the reason he didn't list any particulars in the original post or "just come right out and say it".

If he makes a negative comment, and 2002AD can show a directly correlation to a decline in sales.....guess what? Lawsuit.

Just word to the wise....this can also happen between individuals right here on the forum. I've seen it happen in other places online. Example: Somebody that is a shady seller and does someone wrong in a very bad way. It's ok to make a comment about that particular transaction but a big problem can arise if you follow that person and submit comments on their other listings. The "shady seller" can file a lawsuit for slander/defamation of character. Basically, if you going to say anything negative, it better be 100% accurate.

About forty posts ago my suggestion (not that anyone should pay any attention to anything I would suggest.....I only have met and know about two people on this forum soooo.....) was to let it go and move on....one of the biggest waste of time posts I can recall recently (so with that I'll keep it short) and really zero interest (at least to me).  What ever has happened there at 2002 AD has happened or happens, no changing it now.  Everyone has a choice as to the vendors they work with.  Choose wisely.  Sorry to say I will not be issuing an "apology" (Esty). Oh ya, and I am not hanging my head.   Get serious.

OP posted two posts an hour and a half apart days ago and hasn't been back, yet we sit here going back and forth assuming things and judging.  It's kinda comical if you think about it.  Does anyone even know the OP?  Maybe he never even worked there.  I do agree that it came across as a Reddit-ish "Ask Me Anything" wannabe post that made you think there was drama coming, but in the end we created the drama.  Just sayin'...

I would've preferred the OP posted things like... "This one time a customer came in with a _______ and... "

Possibly giving this too much analysis. (including me).

A more appropriate post would have been. I am a former employee of XXX. I have worked there for XX years. All I can say to my fellow 02'ers is that I (Would/Would not) use them in the future.  They (have/have not) undergone some changes that have made them (Better/Worse). They are a (Great/Shady) business.

Here is my experience.  Let me give you several examples....

Better to give the community some information to help us decide on whether to use the company or not, than post an "Ask me anything" .

My $ .02.

Cheers!

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,
