Very curious as to the technique to repair the chrome/mylar strips! Any more info on that? I've tried aluminum tape and it was miserable. Plastic silver/chrome stuff curls off after a few hot days. What worked for you??? :)

thanks!

Hoping to hear the answer to this, too.  Cleaning up my door cards is on my (long) list of things to do.  All traces of chrome have worn off to a gray plastic.

"Heat" is the key?  I did a nice job on mine but even while set aside for after the paint, the chrome mylar is curling.

Did you use a hair dryer, iron or heat gun?

Thanks!
