GA 2002 in Damariscotta ME

Recommended Posts

Saw this last weekend while at the summer cottage. Very nice, not original color ( I’m pretty sure) but nice nonetheless. GA to ME is a long haul. Kudos to getting an 02 out to stretch its legs. CABA832A-D6ED-4592-A084-425C4840D4F1.thumb.jpeg.be998968c873cb91b552428d86f029f0.jpeg4FCC2169-6633-4176-B90E-D3F77B486ECC.thumb.jpeg.95e04b0b144f0f984db2b68870e4a56a.jpeg

Looks loved! ‘75-‘76 seats but a trapezoid mirror. The greatest likelihood is that the trap mirror is not original to the car. But, given that the flag mirror was introduced late in the 1974 calendar year, some early 1975 models — September, October...? — appear to have arrived with trap mirrors.

Has your DS21 ever made the Maine trip?

Best regards,

Steve

Yes, my son and I got egg creams at Reny’s. We prefer the lobster upgrade at Pemaquid Seafood (the old “lobster co-op”)

My mom is a 6th generation Damariscottan married in that white church at the top of the hill. Spent many summer vacations in the New Harbor area. Crazy good boating and fishing there. Thanks for the memory.

Lol, no. I limit it to within the 200 mile AAA  free towing radius of my house in SC. It’s actually at a shop right now tracking down a hydraulic leak (at 2300 PSI, I don’t  mess with that system, nor have the tools to do so).

Route 32 from new harbor up to waldaboro is just one of the great roads up there. My folks had a house right on 32 in Chamberlain for 40 years. Miss it. Anchor inn in round pond for dinner...

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
