Another 02 in the Cedar Park / Leander area.  Love it!  I believe that makes 7 of us.

You, Ed, Mike, Barney, Walt, Peter and myself.  I'll send you a pm with my contact information.  By the way, our monthly ATX area BMW 2002 and Vintage BMW Cars & Coffee is this coming Saturday morning.  We meet on the 3rd Saturday morning of each month at 8am. We meet at Mozarts on Lake Austin Blvd and use the Hula Hut parking lot.  A bunch of us then go to breakfast afterwards.

I' guessing you bought Peter's black Squaretail?  heck...I didn't even know he had that car.

Barney has been using a body/paint guy out in Georgetown with good luck.  I can't recall the name of the shop at the moment, but he's painted several cars for Barney.

Like Greg says, there are quite a few of us close by and most of us can assist with just about any project. Hope we see you soon.

Thanks, yes I got it from Peter.

New parts showed up today will try to tackle some of this week. I appreciate the offer to help, I am sure it will be just a matter of time:)

I am definitely interested to hear about the body shop as well as have a few of you look at it to get your opinion on the plan of attack.

I have my recently acquired '74 2002 Baur Targa over at Sterling Auto Collision in Dripping Springs.

They have the ability to preform concours class restorations if desired.

Two weeks into my project so far and I am pleased with the progress.

I noticed after digging in is it has a 32/36 and is de-smogged, which is good. One thing I need to do is plug the port on the exhaust manifolds. I see you can put a plug on it. However, I cannot find what you do with the hole(s) on the intake manifold that the EGR tube runs into. Any ideas?

You plug the intake manifold using a adapter like this.

When i desmogged my car, i just replace the entire exhaust manifold with a stainless steel shorty header for $200 which i thought was easier and cleaner than trying to bodge a cap on the manifold.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
