Front end shakes after 65mph

Hello, so my 74 has started to develop this front end shaking after 65mph, it almost feels as if the tires are hoping when I am on the fwy. Any suggestions on what I should tackle first? 

 

New shocks put in 2 months ago. 

New ball joints put in 2 months ago. 

Tires were balanced over 6 months ago.

It’s worth eyeballing the front suspension and ball joints looking for anything that mak have come loose. Check the front bearing for play as well. They may just need a bit of a tighten.

Yeah most shops will give you a free balance if they mounted the tires in the first place also check to be sure the wheel bearings haven't loosened up.

If you don’t want to bother a shop, just rotate tires to rear and see if rear shakes instead.

 

Beyond that, I’d just be checking every major suspension point in the front for any slop.  Bolts can come loose, bushings can get eaten away by leaky oils, etc.

If you grabbed the wheel on the sides and wiggled, (like steering the car), that play could be in the tie rod end links, or the center link... or all of them.

 

Grabbing the wheel top and bottom and rocking it in and out is the way to check the play in the bearings.

 

You can often see play in the tie rods and other steering components if you lay down and watch them move, as someone turns the steering wheel back and forth (with the wheels on the ground).

Crap. I guess I better have my tires and wheels checked.

I thought it was just bad Oregon roads and a conspiracy by the Oregon Department of Transportation to keep us below the maximum posted speed limit.....

 

Oregon, we don't do infrastructure, that ruins the environment.....

Any pulsing on the brakes when applied hard, warped rotors can shimmy too. Something is vibing at high rpm. The loosness of steering parts only amplifies, doesn't cause vibration
