Hi All,

I'm looking for a pair of the plastic pieces which go on the vent window latches, screw covers. Anyone have an extra set?

Also in need of some rubber body caps, specifically: 4 (total) rubber plugs which go into the rear shock tower (located inside the wheel wells) and (1) body plug which goes on the floor, underneath the rear bench. It's on the driver side I believe.

Thank you!

Kyle

For the white plastic covers, Try the folks at la Jolla Independent BMW (JP, Carl, etc) They sold these for years.... they probably still have them. They've been NLA from BMW for decades. I need to snag a set of these too, someday. W&N or Jaymic might have them too. Somebody was remaking these in the early 90s and I bet everybody got them from the same source.

As for shock tower plugs, I have an ancient list of "cool, tricky, oddball 2002 part numbers" from my days as a fiche jockey.... and I *think* this will get you the plugs you seek (if they're still available):

I'll try La Jolla Independent, thanks for the tip! And such a pain to find some little piece. Apparently they got pretty brittle with age, yup NLA.

Ahh a blind plug! I had no idea what the technical term for it was. That part number is for a 7mm blind plug, but is actually a big help because I measured the hole and it looks like 20mm. Googles 20mm blind plug and....

Ahhhh! OK... Sorry! I'll make it up to you.

Here's a page from realoem with measurements. This might get you the real deal parts:

For reference, these are in the "41" section of the parts books with sheet metal structures/parts. Insulation and other goodies are in the back of the "51" section, if you need more body doo-dads.

Thanks dude! La Jolla had the screw covers on the shelf, just $7 a pop. Also ordered the plugs while I was at it.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
