Overlay or refurb for metal VIN plate?

My VIN plate under the hood is about 70% washed out.  Does anyone have a solution for restoring it?   Several states frown on actually replacing it, so I don't really want to do that, but it seems like a clear sticker would work.....

Suggestions?

I saw that.  It's beautiful!   I'm just very worried about replacing the VIN plate.

I sent them an email asking if they can stamp it.  That's something I would not want to have to do myself.

I put my old tired one back on to piss people off.

No no one has noticed.

Gotta have at least one unrestored part on it so you can say it's original.

Piss em off like Harv does.

I as well labored over that one, with virtually every square inch, part piece touched in some fashion....at the end of the day I decided to stay with/use the original part.
