Are you sure it's the switch and not the connection that is your problem? Have you checked your switch with a voltmeter?

Thanks that is a good question, I will check the connections to the switch and the fan next week when I check the heater unit for a suspected leak.

I do have a voltmeter that I can use to check if the switch is actually defective.
