Flywheel mark - fitted position

Hi team

I need some direction. I am About to pull the flywheel and the factory manual shows a notch marking the position of the flywheel. I don’t have notch on mine so do I need to mark This? Do I do it with just centre punch?

I have temporarily marked it with it with a torque marker

The flywheel is keyed to the crankshaft by means of a hollow dowel pin in one of the bolt holes.  That particular hole is oversize so the flywheel only goes on in one orientation.

I only know this because the good folks on this FAQ board informed me thusly, recently :-)

Your mark is carried from the flywheel to the (removable) pilot bearing cover for the crankshaft.  I'm hoping you replace that pilot bearing with a new one.
