Here I go again. Bought another one.

I was arriving to the local big annual classic car show when I saw a Sahara 2002 that looked familiar. Once I went in, I looked for it and found it. Started chatting with the owner and asked him if he was selling the car. I was not really in the market for another '02, but friends are always asking if I know of any.

He said that he would consider selling if he got what he thought the car was worth. When I asked for the number and he told me, I had to buy it.

So, meet Dr. Wu!

He's a '73 Sahara which originally came with an automatic tranny and was switched to manual (4 speed) a couple of years ago.

Check out the funky interior!

Engine looks pretty clean and started up right away with no funny noises or smoke. The weird way they eliminated the thermostat will be fixed ASAP.

The car was damaged by Hurricane Maria, including a broken windshield, small dents on the roof and a larger dent on the passenger side door and quarter panel.

The driver's door has some rust issues.

Plans are to do a rolling refurbishment and just enjoy the car as I fix things. I got frustrated with my Schwarz '74 project since there was so little progress with it, especially after the hurricane, and will most likely sell it off as is.

Spring is around the corner, so enjoy the ride!

Front bumper overriders on the back?

LOL! Yes! And the back ones on front. That's most likely the first thing I will take care of when I pick it up on Saturday.

Harry,

Glad to hear you’re well, and that you got another! (sad it’s not schwarz tho’...  ;))

Thanks, guys!

Hopefully this one will be a keeper. After 22 years with the first ‘76 Schwarz one, the ‘73 Malaga and the ‘74 Schwarz were not as good as I thought they would be when I bought them.

It's not an addiction, it's not a hobby, it's not a passion, straight up I tell everyone it's a business, unfortunately I have to say it's loosing money, so I have to call it a write up. Nice grab!/

Here are some pics I took of the car when I first saw it about two and a half years ago:

Wow she took a beating in the past few years.

Well, when a Cat 5 hurricane hits you, there’s bound to be some damages. At least everything’s fixable.

Is this new to you '02, aside from the storm damage, been restored?

What's the plan for your in process '02 now?

It was painted once, but not fully restored.

I might either sell or mothball for some time the other one. I just want to drive after having the other one sitting for a year and a half.

Irma was a bitch! Sorry Harry I wasn’t trying to sound like an ass, I hope everything is getting back to normal soon for PR.

No offense taken!

Actually, Irma was relatively a piece of cake. It was María the one that really brought us to our knees.
