need electric female clips for headlight switch module

My 73 headlight switch developed a short and burned the wires emanating from the attached  plug-in module. The wires melted from the module to a length of 12 inches.  I need new clips unique to older BMW's to attach to the 14-16 gage replacement wires. BMW dealer no longer carries these very tiny clips.  Local electronic supply houses can match the size but not  the unique female interior and exterior design..

I'd suggest you source a used plastic connector WITH the required length of wire from a used harness, attached to it, and solder it in. 100 times easier.

What caused the melt down? Aftermarket crap piled in/on to the electrical system? When I see Radio Shack style connectors on a car... it brings me physical discomfort.

Also, you may want to add fused relays to the car for the headlights.

This can happen if someone added higher wattage headlights than stock, or as the cars age, resistance builds up and can cause it anyway.

Good luck, I used to have a switch with the connector, but it is sold. They are funny intermediate sized spade terminals with wires coming off at a 90 degree angle.

I could never find a similar spade terminal. I think all 73 and later cars use this setup, perhaps a donor car in a boneyard...

If you can source the connector and harness, I recommend to follow wegweiser's advice and separate the high-current draw of the headlights from the switch.

If you Google for "Headlight Relay Harness", you'll find many available for a few bucks, I think cheaper than you could build one.

Thanks for the  detailed wiring application. I question whether this will work on my 1973 2002 which has a dual filament bulb powered by two live wires going to the signal lights as opposed to the single live wire on older models. My fixture is grounded by the body of the light bulb holder.  I'll have to study/digest the schematic further.
