Help Identify these wheels - Alpina?

Hi guys, hope you are all doing well.

Quick consensus on what these wheels are? They arrived on a friend's Alpina A4S car from overseas, but he has since removed them in favor of a set of 14x6 Alpina wheels for a NK.

These look staggered to me, with the front being a confirmed 13x5", but I can't find any noteworthy stampings that would help me identify them. I know some of you are nuts about Alpina stuff, and I would like to verify what they are before I list them for sale.

If they were Alpina's they would have the "ALPINA" cast into the center.  They (Alpina) made alloy wheels in 5.5" x 13, 6.0" x 13 and 6.5" x 13.  I have seen staggered sets on o2's with virtually all of those combinations.  Once upon a time I had a set of 5.5" x 13 wheels that looked nearly identical to the Alpina's same style fin and all - long time ago, I believe they were an early E-21 style wheel (FPS), they (FPS) made something similar for the E9 coupes.  Do some googling and you can likely find a pic of a set.  Hard to tell from the pics of these are staggered, my old eyes so no, they are the same.

We need better photos of the centers, Ryan.

Are you certain they’re 5” rims?  They certainly look wider than 5”.

Best regards,

Steve

Here are a couple of examples of what you might see in the centers.

If they aren’t stamped Alpina then they’re most likely OZ’s.

I think...I’m pretty sure OZ manufactured wheels for Alpina.

I'm not so sure about that.  I believe all the Alpina turbine-style rims were manufactured by Ronal.

Ronal is correct.  Back in the 90's (whoa, that was a while ago now) there was a Ronal distributor in Huntington Beach, I was able to get an set of 6x15, 7x15's from them for $150/wheel, I want to say that Miller/Norburn were the sole survivors of Alpina gear back then and those same wheels from them were north of $300ea.  The 13" alloys seem to come up from time to time, not crazy expensive, just depends on the condition which often isn't great.

I know that Ronal and OZ made Alpina style wheels. I had 13x6.5 Alpinas. I could’ve sworn they had OZ stamped on the inside barrel. But my memory is hazy.

Yes, OZ absolutely made Alpina-style rims, but they didn’t make them for Alpina.  Some would call them Alpina knock-offs.  This is largely a moot point, as both manufacturers produce high-quality rims.  But for re-sale value, the Ronal examples, because of the Alpina provenance, sell at a substantial premium.

Steve

OK, Ryan!

It’s morning, even on the West Coast. 😋

We’re all doing well!  We’ve had a lovely discussion of Alpina and Alpina-style rims, and your thread has collected 11 posts, even though we still don’t have a single friggin’ photo that shows a face of the rims under discussion!  😦

Time is wasting....

Oh, yeah, Happy Valentines’ Day, just in case that’s what distracted you!

Best regards,

Steve

These wheels are 6x13" et13 copies of Alpina rims they are made if I remember right by RG. The markings are on the rim between spokes...

I hear you guys, but I didn't think to take good photos of the centers, and now the wheels are 450 miles north of me and a bit hard to get to.

I will find a way to have decent photos taken so we can verify and close this case once and for all.

I just found a set of 13x6 Round Hole CMR Borrani wheels. I think I'll sell those too.

OK, Ryan,

CMR steel rims with 15 round holes are Alpina steelies. CMR steel rims with 12 triangular holes are Borrani steelies. The CMR Alpina steelies were available new in 5” and 5 1/2” widths. Lemmerz manufactured a 14”x 6” Alpina steelie (round holes) for the NK cars.  I’m guessing your Alpina steelies are CMR 13”x 5 1/2” (which are approximately 6 1/2” wide overall).

CMR Alpina steelies are much rarer than Borrani steelies....

And Lemmerz Alpina steelies (for NK’s) are even rarer than CMR Alpina steelies...

Best regards,

Steve
