SOLVED visor clip

Removed my visors and  clips to clean headliner and lost one.  Is this a BMW part? they are in my march 71 02 and I believe they are original to the car, they fit the mounting holes perfectly and of course the visors.  any help appreciated with info on originality, sourcing a replacement if they are etc.

This metal piece fits inside the plastic visor clip.  I guess it's a reinforcing piece.

Scratch that solved thing.  I pulled a visor clip and tried the metal clip as an insert and it doesn't fit.  The plastic clip has a channel extending almost to the back of the piece that stops the metal piece from engaging the "clip" as a reinforcement. 

 

Additionally I'm not certain the plastic clip is the correct clip for a 71 although realoem shows the same clip used from 66-77 1502-2002tii and i have more than one of these plastic clips removed from parts cars, with no metal insert.  If the channel portion was not there and the clip a bit shorter, the metal insert might work, but as is, it's a no go.  Because the metal clip has those triangular "ears", i believe they are meant to be holders for use as a reinforcing  insert, but what year, make and model???

 

The metal piece has some stampings on the backside.  Perhaps someone has seen the marks and can identify the piece.

My '70 (1673695) used the metal piece in the visor clips.  Perhaps you have a newer 2002 clip, E21 clip, or that from a different model.  BMW could have changed the design & now only list their newest iteration in the ETK.

I have a heard time believing BMW would design a metal spring clip to hold a piece of vinyl....

Try Blunt, mine are all plastic, ‘72. About $6.

 I have a hard time believing bmw would design such a clip to hold vinyl, even for their earlier cars.  It is possible these clips were in the early iterations of the holder and the newer, all plastic without  the metal reinforcement supercedes the earlier.  I have two of the all plastic type which i will use until i find a set of the earlier type (if they exist).

The original ones had the metal reinforcement.  New ones don't have it - and the old metal pieces will not fit in the new ones.I tried it when doing the interior in the 69.
