I got this car from Dani a while ago and enjoyed it last fall before putting it away and gathering parts. First couple pics are when I got it.  My goal is to leave as is and just improve on it mechanically and not do anything to pretty it up. I love it as is. Grice was good enough to hook me up with some Alpna Grp2 inverted struts with some sort of vented brake upgrade. More on that later. I pressed in fresh inner and outer control arm bushings and will add a new center link. The strut rod bushings and tie rods were new on the car when I got it. I am adding new strut mounts  and may paint the housings only because they have some surface rust. Also new ball joints and poly end link bushings. Everything else will remain as I got it. I think these are e12 calipers but not sure. The rotors measure just over 18mm but the calipers were spaced with flat washers to center them and I dont think Alpina would do that. I know very little about the Alpina set up so I welcome any knowledge you can share

Once I get the front back together Ill drop the rear and replace all the bushings back there  Bunch of pics in no particular order. There were some fixed camber plates included with the struts pictured. Not sure what Ill run out back but I was thinking some e30 Bilstein sports and a pair or Ireland rear 02 springs I have left over and see how that feels and go from there. These Alpina strus have yellow paint on the housings. They compress and rebound nicely so Im going to run them as is for now. Can anyone ID these rotors??  Also.. Its your duty as an old BMW owner to pack the pitman arms full of grease for the next guy 20 years down the road. This was a bitch to get these ball joints out but thanks to a few drill bits, a chisel and "BIG MOE" I had them out in 1/2 hour

Smooth valve cover and a proper Ti fuel filter (Fernando in Colombia was selling some on this forum late last year) on the bracket you can see on the bulkhead and that would be perfect. Well, that and a couple of air filters :-) Presume you know tuners back in the day used 2x normal NK air filters (i.e. not Ti).

6 volt alternator??

Great car Steve.  Does it have the red and black "pizza parlor" interior?  What is the original color?

I have a set of rotors that look the same as yours.  They came with an 1800 parts car that I bought from a local long time BMW enthusiast (the original owner) and the rotors came with the car but not mounted.  Someone thought they might be 2002 Turbo rotors.  I'll measure them tomorrow and post the results.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
