Symptom: engine smokes under deceleration.

The engine does NOT smoke when started up, either cold or warm. It also does not smoke under acceleration, or not enough to tell while in the car. I started out thinking this was due to bad valve guides, but after talking with a few people I'm starting to think bad oil rings. I know there could be other problems, but those would be the two most typical.

If guides (or seals), I would think it would smoke at start up. If rings, I would think it would also get some blow-by and smoke during acceleration.

Wadda ya think?

Then, get into the ring job while you are considering higher compression pistons and a turbo programable map distributorless digital crank fired fuel injected global positioned lazer guided tactical nuclear theater engine management system. Yeah Baby!

Which one sounds correct? Valve guides or rings?
