Haven't posted on this thing for years now. Looking to get rid of my bottle caps and putting on these Vw rims instead. Love that alpina steelie look. Rallyesque. Anyone ever done this. They're 14" like the bottles. Thinking if I'll need shims or not.

I put Rabbit wheel - maybe 2 - on my '72 -

Probably 1980 VW, so I know they fit.

Long story, but suffice to say it wasn't due to the music.

Just drove across town, then reinstalled '02 wheels.

What's the ET on those? I believe they 'should' work.

I'm running 15" VW Corrado steelies ET45 and they work fine on stage 1 HR springs and Billy HDs. That being said, they sit a little bit inside of the wheel well. I'm considering adding a 5mm spacer up front.

+ 1 on E30 steel wheels--correct offset out of the box, painted silver they look very Alpina-esque and you can use the little Euro center caps on 'em to look nice and factory.  Cheap too from a junkyard.  Only drawback--even good 14" tires are getting hard to find.  Gotta find some 15" Euroweaves--that aren't stratospherically priced--for my E30.

Nice! I like the corrados as well. Somehow the 15" start looking big once you're used to looking at the 13" vintage photos.

I'm pretty sure that's a 6 for the width, not an 8. Especially since 8" wide steel wheels would be very unusual factory fitment for a VW.

Regardless, if you run VW wheels, you will need to get proper lug nuts with a ball seat, rather than the conical seat BMWs use. And since VW used lug bolts at least back to the MK2 Golf/Jetta, you'll have to work a little to find the nuts. Honda-spec ones might work (they use studs and ball-seat nuts instead of bolts), but I've heard the radius of the ball is slightly different than VW's...

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
