1969 Non Op Florida 1600 - Make Offer

Price: $2000
Location: Issaquah WA

Description:

1969 Numbers Matching 1600 in Florida/Tan - Currently Non-op. The history on this car (as I know it) - I bought it ~5 and half years ago, it was non-op then, out of Oregon (see pics). I had grand plans to get it running - the head is currently off the block with new valves in it. I was young and ambitious and (probably) a bit stupid (I've wanted a NK since I was a kid). I think I may have even started a project thread on the old 2002faq boards.

 Let's start with the good.

Good -

It's a numbers matching car

It's in a rare color - Florida!

Body is in decent shape, but see comments below

The head has new valves in it

Most all of the chrome, including the bumpers, is in great shape

It's currently registered in WA

The electrical system all worked when I tested it a while back

And the bad -

It's non running (and I don't know when it last ran)

There is evidence of a rear end collision (looks like a replacement gas tank)

Rust - There are a couple of holes in the spare tire well, but the rockers, the floors, the pedal box and the shock towers are all in good shape.

The above mentioned issues with the body

The mount for the handbrake has broken off the body

The interior is beat up, including the door cards (see photos

I've removed some crappy radio and speakers that were installed and removed some of the carpeting from the front interior

I know I paid way too much for this car when I bought it with such grand ambitions. I'm open to offers - I'd really like to see this car go to someone who can take care of it, but I'm realistic The car is currently in my garage (where it has been the entire time I've owned it). As we're getting ready for a home remodel, it's tough to get pics from all angles, but I feel like I've been honest with the condition. Florida! My #1 color period...DAMN.

:P...I'd a given a couple grand plus my left *** for that car.

I hope we get to see this car brought back to life right here on the FAQ

The guy selling on eBay looks to be a professional Flipper! See his name and stuff he sells.

Too bad it did not go to someone who would put it back together and enjoy it.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
