Those look like 2000-2005 era VW/Audi coils and the boots are already quite long.  The plus side is they're very cheap and perform well.

j.m.  You don't happen to know what the pinout is at the coil?  Searching but haven't hit on it yet. Jim

I drive a b5 daily, I can throw a multimeter on there.  My coils are the style before those but it's a common 'upgrade' to swap those in with a new sub harness.  I believe only the connectors are different.

There are two grounds, one for the signal and one to valve cover, a +12v, and the spark signal itself.  I believe they are the 2.0L TSI coils, can find pigtails all over the internet.  The signal wire is a smaller gauge than the rest and will help you orient pin 3CP_harness_pinout.thumb.png.79c9944d6fc8b102cd7060c85c3486fa.png

Thanks a million.  I had 1 and 4 figured out, but 2 & 3 can be hard to determine.  Had I dug further into the harness at the salvage yard pin 3 would have been evident.

Update Time!!

Bill is making progress on the seats. Here are a couple of photos. He will be doing the rear seat with this same style of horizontal pattern. The brown color does not show well in these photos. It is a deeper and richer color than you see here.

I will be up at Racecraft later this week to go over some things with Terry and I promise I will get a bunch of photos and post them here so stay tuned!

I'm happy for you.

But I was really expecting some more NSFW suspension / chassis / engine porn...  I didn't manage my expectations very well.

Dave,

When I'm up there Thursday I'll see what I can do to satisfy your longings and expectations. 😉

Big update. I travelled up to Seattle and visited the Racecraft shop yesterday. Jim and Terry had already left for the race in Spokane this weekend. Travis was there working on my car and Peter Gleeson's 02 Turbo. It was great to spend some time with Travis. He does some amazing work, as you will see.

A few posts ago I had some pictures of the trunk and the battery box Travis fabricated. Here is how it looks without the floor pieces in place. We copied the wood structure employed in the Turbo to raise the floor a bit. In the Turbo this was necessary to provide clearance for the larger fuel tank. We did it to provide clearance for all the extra plumbing we needed for the FI system. The battery cover will be going out for powder coating later.

I must apologize to Dave. The engine porn I promised him could not be done as Travis is in the middle of wiring the engine and the FI stuff so it looks a pretty messy. Sorry Dave. :-(  But sttill, I think it all looks pretty good. The way Travis polished the cam cover to pop off the lettering and ribbing still takes my breath away. We were able to fit the engine without cutting any of the core support. To do that we were able to move the engine back further than most have done when putting an S14 into an 02. Hopefully this helps the weight distribution as well.

The rear brakes are done. We opted for Wilwood calipers. It all came together pretty well, I'd say. It should give me the stopping power I need with the extra HP.

We have also test fit the wheels to see how the spacing we calculated will work out. I'm really pleased with how it has turned out and the look we have achieved. We are still considering tire choices.

Our goal is to have the car ready for Legends in August. I will admit this is pretty ambitious given where the car is right now. One big variable is the upholsterer. I have told Terry and Travis that I am not interested in rushing things just to make that deadline. The car looks so good. I'd hate to jeopardize the quality of things just to try and be there. There is always next year!
