interesting compact aircon system

Anyone hear of this company? Products look well fabricated and there certainly seems to be enough to match just about any interior, though I guess any louver would work.

Their smallest system seems like it would fit in place of the heater box too

Speaking of, anyone know the dimensions of the heater box off the top of their head?

me as well. Once my ship returns to port I plan on building a mock-up to the dimensions listed on the site. I have to pull my heater core for another rebuild anyways, so it'll be a good opportunity to see if it'll fit.

if you've got some free time, can you give them a call and see what they say? maybe they have some familiarity with our set up

I've look at them for other marques I work with.  They're pretty nice setups, and well engineered.

Keep in mind they're targeted toward the modder/builder crowd, so they don't really produce a model specific kit like what you'd get with the ICE auto air kit.  You'll likely do some fabbing to get things the way you want them.

I think anything wider than 13" will not allow the glove box to be opened or will be too much in the way of your gas pedal leg.

These people have a compact AC/heater system that appears to fit if you remove the 02 heater box.  http://www.oldairproducts.com/catalog/hurricane_advantage.php  I have not personally tried it to say whether it can pull in outside air, fit in the space, or allow both heat and A/C on at the same time to defrost.

So I'm thinking that it would be easy enough to hook it up to the defrost vents, and the floor vent is contained. I'm actually thinking it would be pretty slick to modify the current heater control panels (right and left of the steering wheel) to become the louvers for the new system. I'd have to add another set or two on the passenger side, but that doesn't seem like it'd be impossible.

Their control panels would integrate easily enough into my console. Everything else is contained.

Complete system engineered to work, has been installed in dozens of 2002's by us and by owner with kits we sell.  Call with any questions as we offer a number of options like leather console, double stitch color (red, blue, white etc.) stitch, touch screen stereos that just drop in very inexpensive

works fantastic !  We don't just sell we install in all of our high end builds.    You can have us install or you can do yourself although recommend some solid AC / freon related skills.

Many customers rough in the whole system them take to a professional AC / mechanic for final checkout, charge, hose crimping !

this is the inside evaporator and console

here are the under hood parts

here are pics of latest build we installed this unit.. .replaced complete Behr AC and oem heat unit that was working... client liked the upgrade so much replaced existing unit to have new, high capacity, easily serviced better looking etc.

We sell all of the projects for a 2002 as "kits" so you and / or your favorite mechanical help can knock out fast or just ship car to us we will do

Someone on the UK board put me onto this one.

I am interested in the Dtech installation as well but would appreciate some details regarding the installation. How about a nice thread with lots of photos covering the entire installation process? This would be not only good marketing but it might help to slow the number of posts with people asking if anyone has (independent experience) of installation.

How would you arrange the ducts? Is it shallow enough to build a console around the front and add vents?

My dash is pretty nasty so did consider cutting ducts into the front face of the dash ‘shelf’. Need to investigate the rear of the dash and how much clearance exists.
