echappe
Can anyone tell me what this was for. It had a period ceramic fuse in it. red wire goes through the firewall. Air pump? where would it terminate so I can remove the whole thing?
halboyles
Not sure what fuse box you have but here is one possibility. 32 is an inline (Floating) fuse and 46 is the hazard switch.
echappe
Thanks Hal, That"s a good start as there was nothing on the second spade of #4 fuse. I have a 71 with 6 fuses. I see that your drawing shows up on the 2002 automatic sheet. My car is a manual but anything is possible. I tore the car apart shortly after I bought it so I'm not sure if the flashers were working. The description of #32 in the index is "flying fuse" which is what it did when I pried the corroded thing apart!
halboyles
My '71 1600 had the same inline fuse with the old vertically mounted hazard switch in the left hand cubby hole of the dash. The electrical diagram is for "1600-2, 2002, 2002A USA" and I have attached it. It seems to be protecting the hazard switch as the fuse box end is connected directly to the battery through a split at the horn relay. 1602 US w Hazard Wiring Diagram.pdf
