Looks like a set of 4 is $520

I don't see the point of those stands. What do you do when you want to take off one or more wheels? Once it is up that high, it's pretty hard to manage if you want to then put an axle stand under one corner.

You might as well get 4 x drive on ramps.

I have had the 5000 pound version that runs off 12v for about 6 months.  Works perfectly in my garage or at the track.  Love the portability and convenience.  Lifts the 2002 like nothing and it is very stable.  The 12v runs fine off a jump box or the battery in the car.  I am amazed at how little juice it uses.  Don't hesitate getting one.

Those are interesting but how do you use them for work that involves removing the wheels?   About 85% of what I need a lift for is wheel, brake or suspension related.

I've always like the post lifts but don't have room for a permanent one.   Here is one that can be mounted to the floor and then removed when not in use.  Probably a bit of a storage issue, but at least it can be moved around.  Won't work at the track, though.

Thanks,

I think I am going with the 5000lb option with the 12V pump.  If you happen to have to jack up a car away from power, you will still have an option.   It will be a little less slick when using it in a garage.

Here's some info about the EZcarlift that a friend put together while using it with his E28: http://www.ezcarlift.com/

Actually, I like this route better after reading a fair number of negative reviews for hydraulic based systems.

There is a downside though... it can't lift my truck :/

In the time I have mine I haven't see a drop of fluid leaking.  I think some of the first connectors did leak some but that has been fixed for quite some time.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
