Template for panel behind rear seat

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure what is supposed to be on the deck behind the rear seat because mine had basically turned to dust. Either way, i made a cardboard template which worked great. I used that to make a simple panel out of 1/2" ply which I carpeted. The end result is a near perfect fit.
I'm not sure if anyone could use it but if you want it I would be happy to pass it on for shipping costs which shouldn't be much. 71e5b49556ddf81e6b3c719dfb29a379.jpg&key=d5ed3f70c3d67eb9074dac7ab764d8f3e4cf84062f0be9463ce42196d257cb10cda2d69f7cfc649facbd8789a35f7552.jpg&key=302910a4588a2e1c728b524b654c03b7e939f97b65309c6add71fdd18fb96a1abd806e59469b9495e7d579b13e1cfc83.jpg&key=bd44ae238bbc320e6fd7c9f734e0dfb83e3ef598e61ab91a7982ca57e2f579045ccb5e747f72609373a8108657b28751.jpg&key=644a3a54347a1fc087063852e79137e3b1368153b68c1f51ace01a059e53c48e

That's a great idea. I can trace it onto paper and then I could just stick it in an envelope. Shipping should be about 30 cents or whatever a stamp costs these days!

If you do wind up doing it, firstly expect a lot of requests :-) secondly,  I would love a trace as well... obviously, there would be an investment of time on your part. Let us know what you would want as a compensation of your time and postage.

Anyone that wants one can email me their address. I think what I'll do is take as many requests as needed from now until Monday (when I'm back at my shop) and then I'll make as many paper templates as needed and send them all out at one time. I have a roll of very light and thin paper (kinda like tracing paper) so they should fit in an envelope. I want to say a pre stamped envelope is probably about a dollar. I figure I can probably get a bunch of them made up and drive to a post office all within about an hr total. Does $2 sound fair? I wasn't really doing this to make $ obviously, i was just trying help someone out.
If it costs more I'll just cover the rest (unless there is a ton of interest).
And if it costs less maybe I'll order a new Keychain or something for the 2002!

Would anyone prefer a panel already cut. It occurred to me that some people may not have tools easily available. I would make it out of 1/4" ply which would make shipping a lot less than 1/2" ply.
Unfortunately I couldn't do it free this way though...
Prices would be $25 + shipping for a 1/4" ply panel with no carpet or $40 for wrapped in black carpet. Would there be any interest for the panels that go under the dash also? Those are the next pieces I plan to make since someone hacked mine up to install speakers.

just a suggestion based on my experience...i wouldn't use regular plywood, it will curl and warp with humid conditions...lowe's sells a cabinet grade 5mm plywood that won't spoil...a 4'x8' sheet is about $25.00

I forgot to mention, my "shop" is a cabinet shop so the panels would be made out of 1/4" cabinet grade birch with is prefinished in clear on one side!
