2000CS tear down started today

I'm amazed that BMW would leave that open to the elements like that. Dumb design. I'll probably lay some tar tape along those exposed sections to prevent future problems.

It's a horrible design. I'm beginning to understand why there are so few of these that survived. ...and why W&N sells so many different repair pieces.

Ha!  After inspecting the NK yesterday all day and seeing just how many spaces there are that water can drain to and just sit...it's no surprise to me either that all these cars are rusted out.  I know the coupes are even more rust-prone...

Polished some jewelry this evening. Resra sent me an early shift knob and it shined up nicely.

Rusty outer rockers cut out. Inner sections are good with only minor areas needing to be strengthened with some gussets. I'll get that sorted out after I get everything wire-wheeled and treated with some rust converter and etching primer.

Are you talking about the mud guards at the back of the front wheel wells?  Yes, I removed those and everything is solid behind them.  Mid rocker has two small areas, one on each side that I will gusset and call good, then I'll treat everything I can get to.

My plates were pin-holed, so I made new ones out of truck mud flaps.

I'd undercoat liberally in there. I would also use seam sealer and good caulking to close any openings for water to get in.

Been out of town lately, but got back on the CS today. Floor pans first then moving on to the rocker work.
