Off topic: WHY do I keep watching F1?!

Good God, it is literally the most boring racing on the planet. It makes NASCAR (or synchronized swimming) seem like Gladiators vs. Lions in the Roman Colliseum.  Horrible!! The coverage of the last 20-30 laps of the race at the Hungaroring makes me think of an animated Monty Python TV coverage of two old-school boxers dancing, feinting and shadow-boxing around each other without ever actually making contact. What an embarrassment to the term "racing."

If you want to see real racing, check out Moto3...

Lol, you are so right! I keep getting snookered by the broadcasters ("last race before the Summer break, a single point separating Vettel & Hamilton, blah, blah, etc") into buying that "this will be the one" with outrageous duels and hair-raising passing action, but it never happens...just another snoozer of a Mercedes-Ferrari parade. OK, this time I'm putting the hammer down for good!

Watch, the next race that I miss will be one for the ages...

Not much passing but still entertaining.

TSN (Canadian sports station) picks up the feed from SkySports UK, the coverage is great.

This week was also the ePrix in Montreal, which I didn't attend or watch

I've actually found this year to be quite entertaining compared to previous years. There's an actual competition between teams and drivers for once. I personally root for Lewis - it's quite exciting when he's on the run shaving seconds off each lap trying to catch the Ferraris. I will admit, the races are a slow burn. You may want to try Nascar too? :P

Some f1 races like the last one at Hungary are really awful as a spectacle.  Often the lead up races like the f2 and f3 are better.  When the commentators are bouring and monotone it doesn't help.

The over-reliance of aero makes it difficult to pass.  The only races that are worth watching are when it's wet or when there is a fast driver coming from the rear.

Perhaps they can do a few things with the current cars.

1/ reverse grid for next race rather than have the stupid qualifying sessions

2/ have perhaps 1x 1/2hr practise so cars are less dialed in to the track

3/ no tyre warmers so there is a genuine speed differential for a lap or so.

4/ perhaps offer double points for a win rather than people "settling for 2nd and 3rd" just circulating at the end of the race rather than racing.

5/ perhaps everyone has to use a slow set of hard compound or grooved tyres for at least 5 laps in the race at some stage which are significantly slower, say 5-10sec per lap.

6/ consider as substitue to qualifying is a time attack style single lap sprint after 1 warm up lap.  Perhaps run it as a seperate series or race for points perhaps 25% of what the race points are.

It will make for more interesting "racing" and viewing.

There u go - problem solved on the shitter at 7am.

bleh.  I put them on the tablet, then use them as sleeping pills.  1 F1 season lasts almost a year.

I could race for the rest of my life, in style, for what one team spends on brakes for a weekend.  It's rather nauseating...

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
