JQ02 and OldRoller,

Me, too.  I am saddened when owners of newer BMW's (a) don't recognize, appreciate, acknowledge, or even flash at our old rides as the ancestors and original bones of their plushmobiles.  Damn, I miss those flashes.

^ Unfortunately modern BMW's are just transportation to many people. Not bought by enthusiasts any more.

Completely anecdotal, but the flash/waive/thumbs up appears about 50% of the time from Porsches, and fairly routinely from Audi S and RS drivers.  For BMWs, I'm with you all, unless it's an older BMW, they don't even notice.  For modern BMWs, M2s and M3s are fairly reliable to acknowledge (but not M4s), otherwise, not so much...

Those are in the "plushmobiles" as you call them have no idea nor have any knowledge history of BMW cars. Cars look good to them and 80% of them leased anyway. Be interesting to find out what percentage of them are BMW club members. My estimate is %1. That is my 2 cents.

A few days ago I drove the 02 to the post office, and on the way out saw a man and his wife standing, looking at the car.

"Well, been a few days since I've seen one. I was going to school in Chapel Hill and my father asked me to find a car, so I took him to see the 2002". His father said, "Nope. Can't get that fixed around here" and bought him a Falcon.

He said,"You know, I could have sported a lot more girls in the 2002... the Falcon? Not so much. Nice car!"

The iconic 2002 holds a place in many hearts, whether they owned one or not.

I can't risk flashing my lights at anyone anymore. Where I live flashing your lights means something different.

Yup, Not Fairfield County in the 70's anymore.   😢

Well Rats! Going to have to remove Survivors R/H door. The impact that bashed up the fender also pushed the door in a bit, was hoping to be able to straighten it out on the car but no go.No way to apply appropriate force in the right place.

As it is now the body line between replacement fender and door is off too much for me to ignore, 17 days until it goes in for paint😳

Talk to your body man if he has a stud puller he may be able to save the door.

Looks great!  That's on my list.  My deck has speakers in it...that aren't hooked up to anything.

Maybe they should consider a career in politics. There are plenty in that biz that the speaker is not hooked up to the brain.

I get to DRIVE the 02 today!!!! It's been almost two weeks! Man, I've had serious withdrawal symptoms.

After Solo Nats, I had an attack of sciatica -- a first for me, Yay! -- and I've been virtually incapacitated. But today I'm feeling good enough to do some errands. And I did a "test fit" in the 02 to see how my sore parts work in the seat. That seemed OK.

So ... I'm about to fire her up and head out.
