Nice Clown Shoe NYT! Love the Clown Shoe. High on my bucket list is a Z4 M Coupe Clown Shoe

Thanks @iinca.  I love this car.  I'd have to be in dire straits to part with the tii or the shoe.  All the rest of my cars are expendable.  I bought it in Los Angeles sight unseen and drove it back to South Carolina.  It was quite an adventure. If you've got a little time for some light reading, here are my daily blog posts: Clownshoe Diary

Had a clunk from a worn tie rod, and the steering was loose in the middle with the wheel straight. Installed new tie rod ends, a new center link and did a DIY wheel alignment with string and tape measure. No more clunk or slop. PSA: If you didn't know, Autozone rents the tool for separating tie rods. Pay $35, keep the tool for 90 days. Return it and you get your money back. Keep it, and you bought it for $35.

Dang. That's a lucky dude getting a once in a lifetime opportunity to buy a Barney car! He'll be on a documentary about "Barney's money wasters" one day!

My turn signal lever was locking up whenever I tried to indicate left hand turns.  It got to the point where I couldn’t move it at all. I pulled it out, cleaned it with MAF sensor cleaner and re-greased it with dielectric grease.  Super smooth now.

I couldn’t quite get the canceling tab to work correctly. It’s a bit deformed, and I couldn’t get it right. It cancels beautifully on right turns, but not lefts. I may need to 3D print a new one and press it onto a shim so it doesn't crush.

I greased the slip ring while I was at it.  No more squeaky wheel!

As a reward, I took the car for a 35 mile drive. 😁

No pics, but got a lot done this weekend.

Hella Supertones mounted/wired (LOUD)

Headlight wiring finished

Wiper assembly reinstalled (was coated in orange overspray)

Hood catch rod cleaned up/reinstalled (also coated in orange overspray)

Heater box reinstalled

Dash back in

Slowly getting there, nice to get some garage space back too.

Noticed a couple of things,

Dim rear lights on one side

Reverse light out

Small trickle of water on my trunk carpet

Popped off both covers, found tired lens gaskets, dirty dull light unit, blown lamps.

so

New lamps all round, Pulled the light unit was super easy, cleaned unit, and lens, painted with chrome paint, which was only silver in reality, cleaned contacts, refitted the big black seal with some mastic even though they were in good shape, then fitted new small thin gaskets for the lens.

What a big difference, and no more leak.

it was very surprising how faded the paint was.

id highly recommend checking your rear lights, super easy Saturday morning fix.

Picked up a couples sets of 2002 calipers I had rebuilt, finished in black zinc plating (not flawless but presentable, I think they will look good behind a set of wheels with ‘open’ design). -KB

So I purchased a correct screwdriver that was all that was missing in my kit. Old one was a piece of gray goo. I was hoping it was gray also, but I'll live.

Also change out my beat shift knob.  I'm thinking 5bhp with the motorsport stitching.

Also have a new steering wheel on the way cause this just dosnt get it. Out of a e30 I think.

I broke my flasher switch. And by "I broke" I mean, I got into the car and closed the door, the flasher switch popped out, never to detent again.

I'll search for a rebuild article but if anyone has a good one on speed dial fire it my way.

Cheers.
