Did you do that in situ? If so, you did an excellent job.

Yes, thanks.  I used Hammerite, the EU-equivalent of Rust-o-leum.  I knew the surface was too rough and spray would have been everywhere (even with masking), so I brushed it on, and the surface came out really good.

Final test fit before I wrap in vinyl

How're you going to account for the vinyl thickness? Or are you using vinyl film instead of upholstery vinyl?

Spray glue and cut flush with the openings

Gotcha.  That's going to be cool.  Be sure to post finished pics. You might hit that aluminum with a little sandpaper to give it a tooth for the glue to grip.

Pull the gas tank today. Noticed the bottom was slightly damp and figured that cant be good. When I went to dump the remaining fuel I got a pan full of gas tank gold! A little brushing on the bottom of the tank revealed some carnage. Glad I found it when I did as there is no telling when the dam would have  broken laying down a few gallons of gas in the garage. Can these be repaired or is my wife's gift list growing?

All things considered I thought everything else looked okay.

There are coatings for gas tanks.  There was a thread about it within the past month or so.  Check it out!  Radiator shops can also boil them out & repair.

Console face is wrapped. Some minor adjustments to make to the mounting tabs and it’ll be ready to go. Instead of wrapping the side panels of the console itself I think I’m going to stain it black. 890c42068d74935937c44b57346d90bf.jpg
