What did you do to your 2002 today !

Oh yeah, got an alignment at a nearby shop opened up by my pals Jason & Jeremy. I got distracted and didn't take any pictures of the 02 on the alignment rack.

But my car scaled out to 2,350 lbs with 3/4 tank of gas, and I have alignment questions for later.

Replaced the turn signal relay (faulty), replaced the right Headlamp (dead low beam), adjusted the throttle linkage for WOT, and put about 50mi on it running errands. Getting behind the wheel of the Baikal ‘73 is just like slipping on a favorite pair of pants. So familiar and comfortable. I can’t wait to get the Chamonix ‘73 and my Polaris ‘68 rolling again.

Wire wheel'd and cleaned up the starter and Stahl header left over from my donor e21 to put on the 2002.
My starter barely has a enough power to turn the car over so I'm hoping the e21 starter will be an upgrade.
Sprayed the starter black and the header with flat aluminum ceramic header paint. aaedf670ee7ab6eec036c5129dee876a.jpgea5a7fc9627c19a749a827ba48aa9c7c.jpg17e47b2c1910693a977bf6425bb74de5.jpg9c34bf65d1151aafadb2fb531576c8ac.jpg

What did I do to my car today?  Absolutely nothing for once.

Drove it to the Vancouver International Auto Show.  The best part of the show for me was my car as the cover of a Hagerty brochure.

That's what I call Soft Car Porn...AND MINE IS A CENTERFOLD.   Sorry for the blatant raving.

Joked with my buddy when we saw a hotrod with a mirror underneath to view the details on the bottom of the car.  He says "hey you need a mirror to show off your rear subframe".  Funny.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
