What did you do to your 2002 today !

Some sanding work on the foam filler. Had to fill a couple more spots I missed or where the foam bubbled too much and didn’t hold.

Should be able to get epoxy on everything later this week.

Today I checked my oil, added a little bit and traveled 168 miles down the I5 to visit mt Mom. Measured 26.9 mpg today mostly driving 65 max 83 mph for a few brief moments.  Car ran great and nobody seemed to notice I was an odd duck out there.  The car at rest.

Over the last week I've been chasing the cause of a terrible idle/ misfiring.

Cleaned and swapped distributor,

Installed pertronix,

New cap, rotor, plugs and plug wires,

Adjusted valves...

Still same poor running condition...

Was digging through old threads about sloppy idles and came across an 11yr old post frominkasteve saying that if your gauges were dead that it was most likely fuse #12 which also feeds power to the carb.

My gauges also went out around the same time the poor running condition showed up.

He was right! [emoji322]

It did not look blown but a test light confirmed it was.

I also just finished my hella light install today using an e21 switch in the factory fog light location with the o2 knob. I welded the brackets to the end of the bumper shocks and tucked them in.

They cover the bumper holes pretty well.31dc1eb78f2463d178f26fceefca1fce.jpg&key=32d6f3bf70c5d3e9fa2a3dab7dc82c44c67402f45908abcb08629156d2dc96450964cee794c57346c28159afa21d78d7.jpg&key=e8528061940ace2a91c451e5aef3b2b83faf316bf91f8f58f626e1078aabb3dea7bcc30bead7929c19faa06dbb12a4e5.jpg&key=51b44cc7f35711ccd1fbfbbda2faf730cea4e07e88c7b3e1c3c160cb4a2bc0efa6d89a3589a5e49c4de5ec5ea9c7a5d7.jpg&key=8429ef89ab896a1d47bd4523b97b2b7242552069945ad472268e492fe3016f0a52c50861f613cb07eaa0e1ced5831f95.jpg&key=dfd3413caa0633e9e7a19b7ff2fa0129251c97de781553cf133189c3a2374cd809bc0da9e03e0216f986705fb97d7548.jpg&key=867eefe016254d180b63a42700bc3903efd3ddaa03a6e86925c191aa975b0e1381227b650d17306dbfce097af93b12b7.jpg&key=d61be3d9ab37f4a08ef2ab7893d247da186b18e9b6bbc9c356b8d25563a73de3

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
