ah,,what a grand summer day in Scotland..

Today it was just a little rain... but it‘s better than having 40 degree Celsius and no a/c.

We‘ve even seen a little turquoise beach with a hint of sun.

And even some ships are on dry ground

Let‘s see what Ireland has up it‘s sleeve.

Nice looking car.

Did you get your LED’s from Daniel Stern?

Thank You, No I purchased all the lights at SuperBrightLEDs.com.  All instrument lights including the warning lights.

Also all the rear lights, turn, brake, back up.  I also have the NAPA flasher relay and everything works as designed.

The instrument lights are dimmable also.  I also updated my headlights with Cibie lights. I will add the headlight relay for the headlights over the winter.   Only thing left is to change the euro front turn signals to LED. They didn't work at all when I purchased the car,so I  waited to make sure I have them working correct before upgrading. Which thanks to this forum they are.

Took care of some overspray behind the grill (using sem-flat black spray paint) and installed the IE headlight bucket kit (no pics)

Wasn't entirely pleased with the IE kit, according to the instructions, each adjuster was missing a washer (shows 3 per adjuster, only came with 2), and the the bucket mounting nut/washer combo was too small  - I put all 4 on and was able to pull the bucket off the nose.

I had to buy washers for the adjusters and use the original nuts for the mounting studs.

On a positive note, just about done with the electrical harness/fuse box:

Headlight/foglight/cooling fan relays will be hidden under ADAMS Autosport headlight covers

fuse box to be relocated inside:

Not quite plug and play but not as awful as I thought.  The real trick will be mounting/hiding everything under the dash.

This past weekend, we got everything buttoned up in the rear end - H&Rs, all new rubber, ST 19 mm sway bar, rebuilt diff. Except when I went to drop it down, I put a wheel on and tried to spin it and it took considerable force. Then realized, "it was kind of hard to turn the output flanges on the LSD." Well now the diff has to come back out, as something is obviously wrong.

Replaced the water pump tonight just so I could feel accomplished. Probably should've cleaned this engine before doing any of this work.

Measure preload torque before a tear down.

Well i'd like to see at what torque it starts to slip. So hold one diff shaft stationary. Make adapter to the other that takes torque wrench in the dead middle. Start adjusting wrench from near zero until slip torque is reached or you are at about 100 Nm. I've seen that much preload and can't be quessing others preferences but personally i build my lsd diffs to zero preload nowdays. Others like more i like my car to turn in corner. OE torque for Typ168 lds is 30 to 50 Nm.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
