What did you do to your 2002 today !

I found a deal on a 1975 mostly original mellow runner while picking up parts in Venice for @Coastalcrush408. I felt like I couldn’t say no to it... so today I brought home a sibling for the 1969 2002, the 1984 E28 hot rod, and the 1965 Hillman Imp.

My ownership might be temporary (something's gotta go), but for now I like it...

Hardware was mounted incorrectly. This way guibo was already twisted  and centrifugal force helped it to explode quicker.

It was mounted by Patrick @ Midnight Motorsports over a year and some change ago. Had about 8 thousand aggressive miles on it. I don’t remember details but I think he was advocate of later style mounting with all bolts in same direction. Which I guess is point to be  debated.

I picked up "PB&J" from the shop after an engine rebuild and other work... what a difference! I'll add for good measure it was smack dab in the middle of the heat wave occurring now (heat index on the road was 105) and I'll state once again what an essential item A/C is IMHO, it made the drive SO much more enjoyable. PB&J will be seeing over 3000 miles in August alone ?

Please explain.  Motor mounts?  Transmission mount?  CSB?  Those are the 3 variables for alignment on a stock car.

I suppose the diff could be too far forward as well.  The bolt pattern would not affect alignment.

Finally did my set of super cool reproduction 'flaps yesterday. These are a nicely made product and such a deal

I lost the instructions but once I stared at a few pics on the FAQ it became a

snap. I did add some lock washers...The key to this job is to make sure you

get plenty of bite when mounting the 'teeth'. I didn't want them flying off with

the first cat (pick a mammal) I ran over

Prep  involved a serious wire brushing and some de greaser + some vinyl pro-

tectant for the 'flaps

I love these. Somehow Anna has a bit of class now.

Today I finished refurbishing tail light assemblies of the '70 project '02: re-coated housings, cleaned contacts, and installed new rubber seals and standard bulbs.  Tail, brake, turn, and back-up lights are glowing brightly (for an '02) and when told to do so.

The reason the bolt heads should be on the guibo and the nuts on the flange, is when you tighten a nut/bolt assembly, you are supposed to hold the bolt head still and tighten the nut.  If you tighten whatever end that touches the guibo, you risk rotating the metal insert and putting strain on it.

Installed correct fuel line vent and grommet. Painted the instrument cluster ring that holds the glass in satin black. Also painted the inside of bezel satin white.  The front glass trim rings are off to get new silver pin striping  done. little steps ?

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
