What did you do to your 2002 today !

Picked up a set of 3 DCOE 40s. Two will someday go on the car. One for a spare!

I think i'll end up with a 292 cam and some headers. What are opinions on whether I need to bump up compression to really notice an improvement? I'd rather defer digging into the bottom end if possible.

Hello lads and lassies -

I would like to apply for the pity post of the day award. After 34 years of gainful employment at IBM/Lenovo, I turned in my badge and laptop today after they laid off our entire group

Can’t complain too much. I has been an incredible ride but after never having lost a job in my life the prospect of job hunting is a bit daunting. But in true form I had 2 bloodies for lunch and came to give my neglected girl a bath

And as my front says, there will be hope in my next life

PS - If anyone needs a frontend hybrid mobile app developer, PM me... ????

Best wishes Worzella.  Being in software development myself, in the 1992 recession I went through the experience of having a job walking into an all-hands meeting one morning for our small office in Silicon Valley and walking out without a job.  It was a gut wrencher even though it was a newer job for me and I was only a few years out of college.  I'm back in the Pacific Northwest now, where I grew up, and know there is lots of IT hiring going on in the region, but understand most people like to stick closer to home vs. relocate across the country.

I was in the same boat.  I got hit from the Dot bomb in the early 2000's and then my whole division was downsized due a change of government regulations (telco).  Get into data science, it is kick-ass fun to blow paradigms apart.  Nobody argues with numbers.

I widened the driver’s side wheel well tonight and replaced the back section of the drivers side quarter panel. 7A3FE85C-7962-4F58-B37B-1C88A95C1037.thumb.jpeg.9400f6585bcb7b1c4f11dd86328682f1.jpeg

Patterning the opening from the pass side didn’t go quite as planned, but in the end everything worked out fine. I’ve got a lot of grinding and pinhole welding to do before flipping the car around to get busy on the frame rails and firewall. Looks like 1-2 more fri nights back here. Fun times. ?

Be sure to plug in the wires to the resistor board before riveting the box back together uh... not that anyone would ever forget to do such a thing and then have to drill out new rivets. :D

Cheers,

ray_ , thanks for the heads up. I tried to read up on all the check points on this project and I will bench testing everything possible before stabbing it back in. Right now the fan spins with bench test and the blade is pressed on with a small gap to the shroud. I am using the Porsche Bosch motor and appears I have to reverse the wires to get correct rotation. I went with these threaded rivets with flat low profile heads in hope of being able to get back in the thing with eased need be .

Sorted out a large vacuum leak at the Brake Booster (I need that darn 90 degree Elbow - anyone have ideas? BMW says it's NLA!). Finally got the M20 idling correctly - funny it's much quieter idling at 700rpm as opposed to 1200. Who'd have thought?

Cleared out the garage for more work during this week - hoping to drive it around quite a bit this weekend. Cheers!

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
