5/16" is almost 8mm.  ;)

 

Haha.  I don't have a lot of metric available near me and the vintage is coming.  There was also a 5/16 in there that was about an inch too long, that's why I replaced it.

Got the interior 98% put together: gauge cluster is back in, console is buttoned up, wired up the speedhut AFR gauge but ran into an issue.

For some reason it isn’t showing any data and the led will double flash every few seconds. Have a trouble ticket out to speedhut to see what they think. Hopefully I don’t have to pull that gauge back out as it’ll require removing the front left speaker, the gauge cluster, and feeding a bunch of hard to get to wires through the side of the dash...

OK, Paul. I’ve got this!

 

WTF, Mpower5266!  Putting SAE bolts on an ‘02 alternator is certainly going to switch your car’s electricals to a positive-ground system. I’ve seen it a dozen times. You better start ripping out the wire harness now, before it starts smoldering....???

Not being a smart arse..... honest.

But what is the thing with putting the fuel filler in the trunk?

Am I missing something here! Is it a problem with US fuel additives, I know I spill fuel mote often than not, but I just wipe it down at the garage and give it a quick wash at home if I've really made a mess, never had an issue in 30+ years, just wondering if it's a new issue I need to look out for?

From what I hear it's only us in California - maybe someone else can chime in. But we have these spring loaded fuel fillers that create a reverse spray affect somehow on my car.

 

Every time I pull the spring back I get fuel everywhere. the diesel style pumps would be better because we can stick it further down and not splatter. 

 

I know its not the end of the world, but if I dont have a rag or my car is dirty, it makes it worse. I prefer the no spill, no cleanup method.

C’mon now, he is using funny sized bolts not a Lucas alternator.
