What did you do to your 2002 today !

That is a fun video.

How are you relieving the pressure when the car is shut down?
Do you have the stock fuel diverter inline still?

My theory is that upon shut down, the remaining fuel pressure has to either go past the float needle in the carb (flooding the manifold), or back through the valve in the pump; or both.

I use the Jeep filter, with two outlet nipples and use the second one to vent that pressure/fuel back to the tank through the steel return line under the car.  I think it helps.

I assume you have new fuel lines/clamps coming off of the tank, in the trunk; as well as the spacer sleeve (not cracked) on the sender's outlet nipple, ya?
I sure am glad we're friends nowadays [emoji16]. Your theory seems to be very accurate if not spot on. Just went down to the garage (stinks like gas in there, pregnant wife not happy) and it looks like gas has definitely been flooding into the manifold. Looked at what I now know is the diverter valve and it turns out the fuel return line is kinked. I'm thinking it happened when I pulled the battery a few weeks ago to make swapping the master cylinder a little easier. So if I unkink that line should cure the issue? Or at least partially remedy it?
All fuel lines are new and sender spacer and clamps are good. Proud to say "no gas smell in the trunk". cb80ab56bdd1901afc667d97f051e999.jpg8ffbee2a7f0f536574d62c423131e3ab.jpg

Picked up my patched fuel tank. He brazed in the holes and then sealed it in and out. Looks like he went crazy with the inner sealer but over all I am pleased and I think I doubled my cars value as it was done for $250 .

old and what I got back.

Slowly building a $20,000 $4000 car

If it "ran when parked" you wouldn't have parked it!

I fit both my doors tonight and started on the seals. Moving it in and out of the garage as coked up the plugs lately so it was running on 2-3 cylinders. I had them out cleaned them up and boom! it runs like a dream ?. I can't wait to get some miles on the clock.

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
