AC on/off switch not clicking.....

Several things to check:  Your Behr AC on/off switch has a wire that runs to the temperature setting knob to the left of the switch.  This temperature setting unit has a probe that is/should be inserted into a little opening at the front of your evaporator.  Check to see if this is damaged or broken off.  Also, there is a black wire coming out of the temperature setting unit that runs back through the firewall and should be connected to the black wire from your compressor.  Check to see if this wire is damaged or is connected to the compressor.  The last thing to check is to make sure your compressor is grounded properly.

For A/C to operate both the temp switch and fan switch need to be on.  I think the original temp switch doesn't have an off position, replacement switches do though along with SAE extra fine threads.  It's usually the fan switch which doesn't make a good contact as it is rotated except at the very end of travel.  These can be cleaned to improve conductivity.

Two more things to check:  the relay that powers the compressor, and make sure the heater blower motor isn't turned on.  Behr A/C units are wired so that you can't turn the A/C on if the heater blower motor is running--at least that's the way they're supposed to be wired...a PO may have boogered that all up by installing a switch that doesn't have that terminal.

The relay is for the condenser fan only, the black wire goes to the relay and then direct to compressor.  And on coupes at least when the A/C fan is turned only it trips another relay that turns off the heater fan so both can't be on.
