Group Buy Interest? Windshield Sun Shade

UPDATE:

Thanks for the support everyone, I was excited to get this thing going. Unfortunately, the group buy is no more...

I began working on the design with Covercraft back in September of 2016 when there were zero 2002 sunshade options available. I created the template myself and had Covercraft send me a prototype based on this template - I tested it for a few months with great results. After talking about wholesale/bulk pricing for a few months, the rep I was speaking with finally came down to a reasonable price, with a 50 unit minimum, so I made this thread. Since then, it has come to my attention that Covercraft is now selling 2002 sunshades, presumably my design, and didn't tell me this... Even with a bulk discount, my pricing would be similar to what's on Covercraft's website, and for the same product. Thus, the group buy is no longer necessary.

Thanks again for the enthusiasm everyone!

------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been working with a company called Covercraft to make us the ideal 2002 windshield sun shade, and the design is finally dialed-in. After using mine for a while now, I can confidently say that every 02 needs one! With 5 layers of insulation and UV-protection, the sunshade will keep your interior temperature noticeably cooler and prolong the life of your dash and seats. Best of all, it's easily foldable and lightweight - just throw it under your seat or in the trunk when not in use.

Group buy pricing will be $69 shipped in the USA, and $79 shipped international. If I can get at least 30 commits in the next couple weeks, then I'll give the manufacturer the go-ahead to make a batch.

This looks good but what I really want is one of these:

Unfortunately every approach I have made to that company has been ignored. I think they went bust, along with their 'patented design' but have left their site up to tempt people in.

Did some more thinking.... I think I"m going to pull out and say I'm a no-go.

Looks nice from the photos, but compared to what else I could do with 80 bucks(I could use new tie-rods and a center rod for my steering soon) I think I'll stick with my cheapie sun-shade.

Good luck with the group buy thou!

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
