Price: $6000
Location: Honesdale PA

Description:

SOLD

The car is in a running and driving state. It can be test driven by serious buyers. Videos added below.

Vin 2764231.

I have some paperwork on the car, It was sold in September of 73 in Mount Kisco, NY. It remained in the area with the last service stamp at 104k miles in 1981 at the same dealer in Mount Kisco. In the 90s it was sold to the brother of the man I bought it from. The vehicle was last registered in 2004. I purchased the car in September of 2015.

There is rust in the rear passenger wheel arch, the drivers side frame, rear drives side shock tower. See videos for more. 142k miles on body. Original engine. All vin #s match

Comes with a spare low mileage engine (~35k)1974 tii engine w/ accessories and G245 5 speed transmission. New trim pieces, engine gasket kit, original steering wheel, extra gauge cluster, blower motor, wiper motor, aftermarket headers, ignition coil, distributor, and many little bits. Seat are recaros and I still have the manual.

I would like 6000 for the car and 2200 for the extra engine and transmission. Together I will let it all go for 8000obo. not interested in trades except e30/s14 engine parts. I have a truck and drive back to Long Island often. I can deliver the engine along the way.

VIN 2764231.  Probably manufactured late June 1973, according to my VIN cheat sheet.  Given East Coast delivery (a Mount Kisco, NY dealer car almost certainly had an Elizabeth, NJ Port of Entry), probably just reached these shores in August 1973.  Classic color combo -- oops, I'm biased!  Hope it finds a good home.

GLWS,

Steve

BMW Neue Klasse - a birth of a Sports Sedan

Unveiling of the Neue Klasse Unveiled in 1961, BMW 1500 sedan was a revolutionary concept at the outset of the '60s. No tail fins or chrome fountains. Instead, what you got was understated and elegant, in a modern sense, exciting to drive as nearly any sports car, and yet still comfortable for four.   The elegant little sedan was an instant sensation. In the 1500, BMW not only found the long-term solution to its dire business straits but, more importantly, created an entirely new

History of the BMW 2002 and the 02 Series

In 1966, BMW was practically unknown in the US unless you were a touring motorcycle enthusiast or had seen an Isetta given away on a quiz show.  BMW’s sales in the US that year were just 1253 cars.  Then BMW 1600-2 came to America’s shores, tripling US sales to 4564 the following year, boosted by favorable articles in the Buff Books. Car and Driver called it “the best $2500 sedan anywhere.”  Road & Track’s road test was equally enthusiastic.  Then, BMW took a cue from American manufacturers,

    The BMW 2002 Production Run

BMW 02 series are like the original Volkswagen Beetles in one way (besides both being German classic cars)—throughout their long production, they all essentially look alike—at least to the uninitiated:  small, boxy, rear-wheel drive, two-door sedan.  Aficionados know better.   Not only were there three other body styles—none, unfortunately, exported to the US—but there were some significant visual and mechanical changes over their eleven-year production run.   I’ve extracted t
